Hunt for wild hogs continues in Lithonia

LITHONIA, Ga. -

Residents of a Lithonia neighborhood say they are ready to see a group of feral hogs go.

Authorities continued to attempt to trap the wild hogs on Wednesday after neighbors continued to complain about the animals.  They were back early Thursday morning to continue the search.

Hog catcher Taveres Dennis hoped that strategically buried concoction of dog food, corn and molasses would weed out the animals.

"They can smell that and once that smell gets out, it will bring them in and they going to search for it and they will stay in the area until they find the food," Dennis said.

While Dennis waited for the animals to take the bait, DeKalb County authorities said they've hired a different wildlife company to set traps in the same wooded area on Thursday morning.

One homeowner said he spotted a hog much larger than one that was reportedly seen on Tuesday. He said it looked to weigh up to 400 pounds and had tusks.
