WESTMINSTER, Md. -

The family of a security guard killed at the Washington Navy Yard is announcing a memorial fund for his children.

Richard Michael Ridgell's wife Tracey said Tuesday the fund will help pay college and other expenses of daughters Heather, Megan and Maddi. She says Heather has college loans, Megan is in college and Maddi is in high school.

The Ridgell Children Memorial Fund is through PNC Bank, 2325 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, Md. 21074.

Meanwhile, The Carroll County Times reports that the city of Westminster will name a softball field after Ridgell. He was an assistant coach for the Westminster Jaycees Girls Softball League.

A military support group, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, has established a fund to support the families of all 12 people fatally shot on Sept. 16.
