Posted: Updated:

A 20 something year old man simply trying to rent some movies at a Redbox at a Houston area McDonalds has had his life dramatically altered.

Houston police say just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the man was getting back into his vehicle outside a McDonalds on the North Freeway and West Little York was approached by two men.

Those men forced the man out of his vehicle and pushed him to the ground.  The man, who was carrying a concealed weapon fought back and fired nearly a half a dozen times at the suspects.

One of the suspects was killed at the scene, a second was reportedly hit by the gun fire but was able to escape.

The victim also told Houston Homicide investigators that he believed there was a third suspect that never got out of a car but took off when he heard the gunfire.

HPD Homicide investigators are checking area hospitals for gunshot victims.  At this time no charges have been filed against the suspect.

The suspect did tell Houston police he did have a concealed carry permit.
