ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -  One of George Zimmerman's attorneys has signed on to be a legal analyst for CNN.

Mark O'Mara appeared Friday morning on the cable channel's "New Day" program and was announced by host Chris Cuomo as the network's newest analyst. O'Mara's spokesman confirmed the role.

O'Mara wrote in a blog post on Friday that he will be appearing regularly on CNN "to offer my insight on a number of high-profile legal matters."

The Orlando-based attorney successfully got Zimmerman acquitted of second-degree murder in the shooting of Miami teenager Trayvon Martin in July.
