Huge water bugs infest Queens neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

More than 30 neighbors in Floral Park, Queens, are fed up about the huge bugs that invade their neighborhood at night. They say the sewer bug -- aka water bugs and roaches -- come out at night from street sewers on Little Neck Parkway and other streets in the area.

Residents say this has been a problem for three years, but for some reason this year the infestation is extreme. All these people want is some peace of mind that one of these things won't crawl into their beds.

The city's DEP said it was now aware of the problem and will look into it.

Mayor Bill de Blasio won't be reimbursing the city for personal travels that involve his security detail. "We have followed the conflict of interest board guidelines. I am following their guidelines to the letter," said de Blasio. The mayor has been heavily criticized for not paying the city back for travel expenses. Attention around the issue started last week when de Blasio was spotted not paying for a subway ride to Barclays Center while on official business.
