Halfa century after the March on Washington, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream isnow reflected in many Houstonians' reality.
Justask Vaughn and Kyla Walwyn, who are co-pastors at Legacy Church in southeastHouston.
Theyare an interracial couple – he's black, she's white – married, with four youngchildren. And their congregation reflects that diversity.
ButVaughn Walwyn didn't always "walk the walk." There was a time when he dabbledin drugs, until the day he was arrested – and tased – by police.
"WhenI was going through the hard times," Walwyn recalls, "laying in the hospitalbed, handcuffed to the bed, I had to think if I didn't fix this, my daughterwas going to be visiting me in jail. Or a tombstone."
Soit was Vaughn Walwyn's oldest child who was his catalyst for change. Just asDr. King spoke of a dream for his children.
