MONROE, Ga. -

A Walton County community came together Wednesday night to remember a 16-year-old who was killed early Tuesday morning on his way to school.  Authorities say they're still investigating Jacob Little's death, and they're searching for the first of at least three drivers who hit him.

Jacob was struck on Double Springs Church Road less than a mile away from Monroe Area High School.  Authorities say he had missed his school bus, and decided to walk to school instead.  He had his skateboard with him, and according to investigators, it slipped out from under him when he was riding it.  When he went into the road to retrieve it, he was hit by at least three vehicles traveling in both directions.

One of the drivers who hit Jacob stopped at the scene, and another went to the sheriff's office on Tuesday night after seeing news reports about the accident.  He told them he thought he had hit a deer lying in the road in the darkness.

Neither of the two drivers who have come forward will be charged in the accident, authorities say.

Investigators say they're still developing leads in the case.  On Wednesday afternoon, authorities found a silver Honda sedan that had been left on the side of the road at Highway 316 and Harbins Road in Dacula.  They towed it to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, where they say they plan to examine it further.

Deputies say the vehicle has front-end damage, and is similar to the one described by witnesses, but they can't say for sure if that's the car they're looking for.

Meanwhile, local churches worked together Wednesday to organize a vigil near the spot where Jacob was hit.  Those who knew and loved him were very emotional as they came together to grieve and pray for his family.

Jacob's family also started a petition to have a cross walk added in the spot where he died.

A Justice for Jacob Little Facebook page has also been established.  Click here for a link.

A fund has been established for people who would like to make donations to the cost of Jacob's funeral services.  Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank location.

Anyone with information regarding the accident or the Honda sedan that was spotted at the scene is asked to call either the Walton County Sheriff's Office at (770) 267-6557, or the Georgia State Patrol at (706) 343-5870.

Prosecutors considered him their key witness, a longtime Gwinnett developer given immunity to spill what he knew about corruption inside county government. David Jenkins testified before a Gwinnett grand jury in 2010. He also met multiple times with prosecutors. Those interviews were videotaped. Four years later, prosecutors agreed to a no contest plea bargain with former commissioner Kevin Kenerly on one count of bribery. He will serve 10 years on probation and pay a $10,000 fine.
