NY reports 7.5% July unemployment

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York labor officials report the state's unemployment rate remained at 7.5% in July, unchanged from the previous month.

The state Department of Labor says the rate dipped in the state outside of New York City from 6.9% to 6.8%, the lowest level since January 2009.

The rate for New York City remained unchanged at 8.4% from June, but 1% lower than a year earlier.

The federal government calculates the state rate partly based on a monthly telephone survey of 3,100 households in New York.
