Houston ISD urges North Forest families to complete application for free and reduced school lunches

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

The Houston Independent School district is reminding families from the former North Forest ISD that they must complete a new application for free or reduced school lunches with HISD.

Unlike the North Forest ISD program, HISD free lunch program must be applied for every year.  "Many of our families may not realize they need to apply each year for meal benefits," HISD Food Services Senior Manager Brian Giles said.  "It's important that they submit the application in order to qualify so their children can start the first day of school with healthy meals."

HISD student lunch prices for 2013-2014 school year is $2.25.

Parents can apply online at  www.mealsapps.houstonisd.org or in person at all HISD campuses.  Only one application per household is required.  Parents will need their children's HISD student identification number, along with the household's monthly income.

For more information you can contact HISD student eligibility office at              (713) 491-5944.
