HCSO: Suspect confesses to making fatal shooting look like self defense

Posted: Updated:
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Investigators say a gunman used a knife to make it appear that the fatal shooting of a woman was an act of self defense.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, deputies say 41-year old Donna Chunkier got into an argument with 32-year old Charles Ivy at his residence in the 300 block of Green bow Lane in northeast Harris County.

Investigators say Ivy pointed a shotgun at Chunkier and discharged the shotgun one time.  Chunkier died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Department, Ivy told investigators that Chunkier attacked him with a knife and that he defended himself.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff's department, after interviewing several witnesses and interviewing Ivy at the station, Ivy confessed to shooting Chunkier and throwing a knife next to her to make it appear it was self defense.

Ivy was arrested for the murder of Donna Chunkier and remains in the Harris County Jail.
