Driver charged in fatal I-85 accident

Posted: Updated:
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

The tractor-trailer driver who police say caused a deadly accident on Interstate 85 three weeks ago is facing charges.

Thomas Caldwell, 67, turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on Thursday. He is charged with second degree manslaughter and making an unsafe lane change.

The crash killed 35-year-old Rabia Adnan, a doctor and mother of two.

Her husband said that their Nissan Pathfinder was forced out of the lane into a box truck before flipping several times.

Police didn't  find any evidence that Caldwell struck the pathfinder, so he's not charged with hit-and-run.
