Houston investigators are asking for your help to put a violent serial rapist behind bars. He has already struck three times. Officers are hoping to catch him before he attacks again. Since late May Houston police believe this man has raped and beaten at least three women. His victims describe him as having a wide smile and appearing to be thoughtful and considerate, at first. In fact, this rapist is offering women who are walking a ride, to where they're going. Once he gets them in the car he takes them into a nightmare.
All three women were driven to a boarded up, vacant house in Southeast Houston. Behind the house is where detectives say the man physically and sexually abuses them. "It's very frightening," says resident Angela McGee.
"That's really scary," adds resident Ashley Gay. Neighbors are stunned it happened right on their street Southtown near Martin Luther King Boulevard. "Seems like you can't walk out of your house. You can't go to the store, especially not at night," says McGee.
"I'm always looking around me when I walk because I'm always walking by myself. Now I know I can not walk by myself at night time. I might not even go outside at night time anymore," Gay says. Houston police want you to take a good look at the sketch of the rapist. He's described as black, in his late 20's, around six feet tall, medium build, with a wide smile, wearing a black muscle shirt and black basketball shorts with red stripes. "I have an 11 year old that walks up and down these streets. It could have happened to her," McGee explains.
Detectives say in the early morning hours of July 3, 2013 a woman was walking on MLK near Yellowstone and this seemingly kind, smiling man drove up and convinced her to accept a ride from him. The other two victims, back on May 24th & 31st, were also lured away the same way in the same area. All three ended up violently assaulted at that vacant house. When you don't have transportation accepting a ride in the Houston heat can be tempting. "It's kind of tempting and if you don't have money for the bus or nothing like that it's kind of tempting," says Gay.
"We're thinking about moving. I gotta get my kids out of here," says McGee. Investigators say the rapist drives a white, newer model 4-door car with light tint on the windows and dark interior. All three women managed to struggle, fight and eventually escaped. If you think you know the man in the sketch you are asked to call Houston police.
