NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports free agent center Marcus Camby, who is considering signing with the Houston Rockets, recently met with the team's doctors and passed his Rockets physical.
Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan, who was not available for comment on Friday, told FOX 26 Sports last week that if Camby became a free agent the Rockets would be "a leading contender" to sign him.
Camby has a home in Pearland.
He played in 19 games for the Rockets during the 2011-12 season after he was acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Following that season the Rockets traded Camby to the New York Knicks.
"He had a very positive experience there," Kaplan said last week. "It's his adopted hometown. He'd be a great fit with the organization. It's premature right now. We'll see what happens in the next few days."
It has been reported by several media outlets that the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls are also in the hunt to sign Camby.
