Relatives say woman and man she shot at gas station were no strangers

Posted: Updated:

Here's 58-year-old Lewis Daniel captured on video just days before his death, clowning around and dancing for a captive audience of kids.

Daniel had a drug problem and numerous run ins with the law, his relatives are quick to admit.

But what Daniel was not, they say was a total stranger to 23-year-old Shane McDonald.

"Personally I don't know him," McDonald told reporters on Tuesday.

"They smoked drugs together, they smoked cocaine rocks together," said Darryl Daniel, Lewis' younger brother.

McDonald says she shot Daniel because his unwanted sexual advances made her fear for her life.

"I was just protecting myself," said McDonald.

No Daniel's brother said, she shot Lewis because he owed her 30 bucks.

While there's no sound on the video Daniel's brother says McDonalds' actions as well as his brothers' speaks volumes.

Notice how Daniel barely reacts when McDonald pulls the gun.

"Rest his soul in his heart of hearts he didn't believe she would hurt him cause he knew her they have got high together," Daniel said.

And what about McDonald's actions after she shoots Daniel to death.

Fear was the reason given for why McDonald didn't immediately call police.

"That's why she left for her own safety because she was afraid some of those who were sitting with him were going to harm her also," said community activist Quenelle X.

But does a scared woman take her time leaving the gas station, Daniel's family member say.

She even takes the time to look at this young man's leg after he was grazed by one of her bullets.

"What I want to say to her is this here, you know my brother get off the b.s.," Daniel said.

Darryl Daniel said he also wants Quanell X to stop what he calls the b.s.

He said he and other family members have repeatedly called Quanell to tell him Lewis and Shanequia were far from being strangers.

"He ignored that call apparently she must have paid him some money," Daniel said. "for him to walk on TV and ignore my family we lost our brother and my mother here lost her son and for Quanell X to do that is a disrespect for me and this family."

Quanell X told Fox 26 he spoke to Daniel's family members and they were unable to supply him with any proof of the alleged debt between Lewis and Sheniquia.

He said his representatives even tried to verify the supposed relationship between the two but were unable to do so.

Quanell said Shanequia Mcdonald is adamant that she never did drugs with Lewis Daniel and he didn't owe her any money.
