Storefronts planned in Conn. for health care law

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - As part of an effort to get the word out about President Barack Obama's health care law, officials at Connecticut's insurance exchange are going beyond television and radio advertisements and planning to open storefronts in several cities.

Officials at Access Health CT believe they're the only state with its own exchange to set up stores modeled after computer giant Apple's establishments, complete with "geniuses" to help guide customers through the maze of health insurance and sign them up for coverage.

It is a highlight of a multi-pronged approach to marketing the exchange, a health insurance marketplace. Open enrollment begins Oct. 1.

Jason Madrak, the exchange's chief marketing officer, said there are plans to possibly open stores in New Britain, Hartford, New Haven and Waterbury. The first should be open mid-August.
