Alleged Shooter Speaks

Posted: Updated:

Acting in self-defense, that's what a woman claims she wasdoing when she shot and killed a man with a rifle.

Shanequa Mcdonald claims she was harassed before beingthreatened with a knife.

Meantime, Lewis Daniel's family maintainstheir loved one kept to himself and wouldn't hurt anyone.

"I just went to the gas station to get gas" saidMcDonald, and we can see that in surveillance video. McDonald pulls

into the Gulf Point gas station on Cullen.

We can see she's clearly approached by 58-year old LewisDaniel, he's holding an umbrella and McDonald claims he then begins

to make "sexual advances" towards her.

"I didn't go to hurt or harm anyone, I was justprotecting myself from what had happened" said McDonald. The 23 year old

was visibly emotional and distraught over Sundaynights incident.

She admits to using a rifle in the trunk of her car as aform of self-defense and claims to have repeatedly demanded Daniel

quit harassing her. But things quickly escalate whenshe says she was forced to take matters into her own hands the second

Daniel lunged at her with a knife,

"He's from around this area but personally no I don'tknow him" she says.

"She took out her phone to take a picture of the knifethat he had in his hand so that no one would say that he

didn't have a knife attempting to harm her ...stabher." Community Activist Quanell X wouldn't allow the young woman to giveus

many details since the case will go before a grand jury buthe did address questions about why she left the scene without calling the

police. Quanell maintains it was an action out ofself-defense. "She left, went home told her mother what happened and her mother

called 911 so that's why

she left for her own safety because she was afraid that someof those who were sitting with him were going

to hurt her also." While back at the gas station Daniellay wounded with gunshot wounds and died at the scene. It's something

McDonald says she never meant to happened but warned him anumerous times and says, she has the video to prove it.

"I'm very very hurt and I never meant for anything likethis to go on" she says.
