Fire torches two-story home in Dacula, cause unknown

DACULA, Ga. -

Gwinnett County firefighters responded to scene of a living room fire and report of electrical sparking from an outlet late Tuesday morning. 

The residents were home at the time when the fire broke out and were able to safely make it out -- with their pets.

Fire officials say fire crews faced high heat and fire on the first floor of the two-story single family home on a slab. Crews were called out of the house as the heat and fire advanced to the upper floor and consumed the back left room.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to knockdown the bulk of the fire; as well as, fire attack hose lines to protect the exposed homes around the blaze. 

The utility company was called to the scene and secured the electrical service to the house.

Once the fire was knocked down, firefighters were able to enter the structure with fire attack lines to search for hot-spots and extinguish any that were found.  

There were no injuries reported.

Fire officials say the home suffered heavy structural damage from fire and heat. The house next door suffered damage to the vinyl siding from the radiant heat from the fire.

Gwinnett County arson investigators were called to the scene and are looking into what sparked the fire.
