HALL COUNTY, Ga. -

Crews worked into the night to repair a Hall County road after it washed away Saturday, leaving residents stranded.  C. Rogers Road is back open now, but neighbors say with more rain on the way, they're concerned the same thing could happen again.

The road washed out around 3 p.m. Saturday, leaving about 100 residents either trapped in or out of their neighborhoods.  Tommy Boling, who lives in the neighborhood, said he saw all the time and energy he put into landscaping his own property wash away when heavy rains overwhelmed a pipe beneath the roadway, causing it to wash out.

The situation became so bad that some residents waded across the road, while crews had to ferry others back to their homes on Lake Lanier by boat from Clark's Bridge Park to a private boat dock at the end of C. Rogers Road.

As crews worked to repair the road, residents remained isolated, and in some cases they were separated from their families.  Jennifer Rose told FOX 5 she left her two young children with a babysitter on the other side of the road for what she thought would be just a couple of hours, and though she was only about a football field's distance away, she couldn't get to them.

The road was repaired by early Sunday morning, and residents were once again free to come and go from their neighborhood.  But some told FOX 5 they are still concerned the same thing could happen again, with more rain in the forecast over the next few days.

Prosecutors considered him their key witness, a longtime Gwinnett developer given immunity to spill what he knew about corruption inside county government. David Jenkins testified before a Gwinnett grand jury in 2010. He also met multiple times with prosecutors. Those interviews were videotaped. Four years later, prosecutors agreed to a no contest plea bargain with former commissioner Kevin Kenerly on one count of bribery. He will serve 10 years on probation and pay a $10,000 fine.
