Classical Indian Vocalist Prema Bhat talks to FOX 26's Rita Garcia about the unique elements of Carnatic music, which originated in South India in Vedic times.
Playing a stringed instrument known as a Tanpura, Bhat performs a sample of an early morning raga. Says Bhat, "Our ancestors believed that if you sing or play certain ragas at certain times, it balances everything in nature."
Bhat will offer a performance and lecture on South Indian Classical Music at The Jung Center on July 25 at 7:00 p.m.
