Spitzer on prostitute scandal: 'was a flaw in my behavior' - FOX 26 News | MyFoxHouston

Spitzer asks for forgiveness 5 years after scandal

MYFOXNY.COM -

Former NY Gov. and Attorney General Eliot Spitzer says he's confident he'll make a good NYC Comptroller if only voters forgive him for the prostitution scandal that lead to his downfall five years ago.

"First of all, it's now five years later. I've done many different things in my private life. It was a flaw in my logic, my behavior.

.. I resigned because I held myself accountable. I've thought deeply about this. I think I can now say to the public if you can now forgive me I think I can serve," the Democrat told Good Day NY.

Spitzer resigned in March 2008 for his involvement with a prostitute.

He needs 3,750 signatures by Thursday to formally enter the race.

Meanwhile, New York's Democratic establishment is reportedly working to undercut Spitzer's decision to run for city comptroller.

The New York Times reports Democrats have begun to lay out a blueprint to undermine the scandal-tainted former governor and to prop up the candidacy of Manhattan borough president Scott Stringer.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

It's a running joke that if you mention the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center to nearly anyone in Hollywood they're going to know exactly what you're talking about because odds are they might have gotten their first big break there. Would you believe some Hollywood's biggest stars -- Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas, Angela Bassett -- got their start in a big red barn in the middle of nowhere.
