Investigators are trying to determine if racing contributed to a collision that killed a motorist. Deputies also say there are conflicting stories about who failed to stop at a red light at the intersection.
Around 8:45 p.m. Friday night, deputies say a white pick-up truck and a Hyundai car were traveling at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes of Bammel North Houston.
At the same time, investigators say a Mitsubishi was traveling eastbound on the feeder road of the North Sam Houston Parkway.
According to deputies at the scene, one of the vehicles ran a red light at the intersection and caused the collision.
Investigators say a woman inside the Mitsubishi died at the scene. The woman's husband was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
The driver of the pick-up truck was not seriously injured and the driver of the Hyundai was transported in stable condition.
Charges have yet to be filed in this case.
