Jewelry heist at Borgata ahead of anniversary

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Three men made off with approximately half a million dollars worth of jewelry from a store at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, said police.

Police say the robbery on Monday at about 8:45 pm was a 'smash and grab.'

The robbers are described as black males, one wearing a blue jacket, one in a grey hooded sweatshirt and one in a dark colored jacket.

The trio feld on foot and then took off in a dark colored vehicle.

No additional details were made available.

The luxury casino and hotel is celebrating its 10th anniversay on Tuesday as the dominant property in Atlantic City.

One out of every five dollars lost by gamblers goes into the the casino's coffers and it takes in twice as much as most of its competitors, reported the Associated Press.
