Thieves ram truck into hair extensions store in NE Atlanta

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Atlanta police say someone rammed a pick-up truck into a storefront on Edgewood Avenue in northeast Atlanta in an attempt to break into a hair extensions business early Tuesday.

The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. at Virgin Remy Hair Extensions, located in the 500 block of Edgewood Avenue, near Randolph Street and Auburn Avenue, in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The vehicle crashed into the front entrance where the business had a large roll-down gate in place.

The suspects appeared to have backed in the truck and, once inside, broke into an office on the premises.

One witness told police that a loud crash woke him from his sleep at this nearby home. He says he looked out a window to see a dark-colored truck lodged into the front of the store and could hear people packing items into the rear of the truck. He told police he saw the truck speed away, traveling north on Randolph Street.

Packages of hair weave could be seen strewn across the sidewalk and street outside of the business.

Police have not confirmed exactly what was taken or the number of suspects involved.
