NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports the Rockets meeting with free agent center Dwight Howard is underway in Los Angeles.
The Rockets contingent represents the organization's past and the present, and includes Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler, owner Leslie Alexander, CEO Tad Brown, general manager Daryl Morey, head coach Kevin McHale (also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame), executive vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas, guard James Harden and forward Chandler Parsons, league sources have confirmed.
The Rockets have already made several key moves to clear the necessary cap space to sign Howard, including trading forward Thomas Robinson to Portland and waiving forward Carlos Delfino and guard Aaron Brooks.
The Rockets are the first team to meet with Howard, who will also meet with the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to NBA rules deals with free agents cannot become official before July 10th.
