Rockets trade Thomas Robinson to Portland

Posted: Updated:

Forward Thomas Robinson confirmed in an interview with FOX 26 Sports that he has been traded by the Houston Rockets to the Portland Trail Blazers.

NBA sources confirmed the Rockets get a pair of future second-round picks and the rights to  forward Kostas Papanikolau and center Marko Todorovic.

The trade cannot be officially completed until July 10 according to league sources.

Robinson, the fifth-overall pick in the 2012 draft by Sacramento, is headed to his third team in four months.

"I got the news a couple of minutes ago," Robinson said. "I'm excited for Portland to give me a chance.

"Hopefully I'll be given a chance to show that I'm worthy of staying put."

Acquired by the Rockets from Sacramento in February, Robinson played in 19 games for Houston, averaging 4.5 points and 4.1 rebounds.

"It's never easy (getting traded), but the team is giving me a chance," Robinson said. "I just want a fair chance to show that I can play.

"Go back to the player I was before my first year in the league. Being hungry on the glass and being a shut-down defender. That's all I want to do is rebound and get stops."
