If you drive on Harris County toll roads, you may be paying more, this September.
Tolls are going up – but not across the board. Some will remain the same.
But folks who use EZTAGs will notice a slight increase every time they pass through a toll plaza.
"The EZTAG rate that people are familiar with on our system when they pass through one of the mainline plazas, those big toll plazas that span our roadways, will be going up in September by a nickel," said Peter Key, director of the Harris Co. Toll Road Authority.
That toll – previously $1.40 – will rise to $1.45.
The cost to pass through some entrance and exit ramps will also increase.
According to Key, those rate hikes are tied to inflation and they help pay for road maintenance and new construction – not to mention the debt that was taken on to build those toll roads in the first place.
