Arkansas-Little Rock Point guard John Gillon, who played high school basketball at Strake Jesuit, told FOX 26 Sports he has received his release so he can transfer.
Gillon played in 27 games during his freshman season with the Trojans, starting 12.
Despite missing five games because of a knee injury, he finished second on the team in scoring averaging 10.6 points a game.
Gillon also averaged 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game.
"I just wanted to get through this transfer process and go to another D-1 school," Gillon said.
"I just didn't really fit in the system. I think a faster style of play would suit me better. I'm a scoring point guard and Little Rock was looking for a slow halfcourt point guard.
Dillon hopes to decide on where he will transfer next month.
He will three years of eligibility left.
