Former University of Houston guard Joseph Young, who led the Cougars in scoring last season at 18 points a game, confirmed he will transfer to Oregon.
Young asked for and received his release from Houston after his father, former UH star Michael Young, decided not to stay with the school last month after being reassigned from his job as director of basketball operations.
"It's a blessing," said Joseph Young in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "It's a good fit. I like the way Coach (Dana) Altman plays."
"I think it's a great decision that I made. It's a good spot for me academically."
Joseph Young will have to sit out the 2013-14 season and will have one year of eligibility left.
He said he was also considering Texas, Texas A&M, Arizona and Florida.
