Former Texas guard Julien Lewis, who received his release in April, told FOX 26 Sports he is transferring to Fresno State.
"I'm going to Fresno State," Lewis said. "It feels real good getting that off my back.
"Now I can go and start my new journey, getting back to work again and making things happen for the school."
Lewis will be playing for Bulldogs head coach Rodney Terry, a former assistant at Texas.
"He knows my game and knows I can take it to another level and become what I want to become," Lewis said.
Lewis, who is from Galveston and played high school basketball at La Marque, was the Longhorns third-leading scorer last season, averaging 11.2 points and he shot 35 percent from distance.
Lewis will have to sit out the 2013-14 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
