Former Rice star Trevor Cobb, who won the Doak Walker award in 1991 given to the nation's best college running back, is in a local hospital after suffering a stroke according to one of his cousins.
Roland S. Martin, a syndicated columnist formerly with CNN, published the news on his personal Twitter account.
"Please send prayers up for my cousin, former Rice University star running back Trevor Cobb," wrote Martin on Twitter. "He just suffered a stroke."
Cobb, who played at Dobie High School in Pasadena, won the Doak Walker Award and was a First-Team All-American after rushing for 1,692 yards and 14 touchdowns in 1991.
Cobb, 42, played at Rice from 1989-1993.
