Woman charged after dog saved from hot car

A dog is in safe condition at the Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services Veterinary Public Health shelter after animal control staff removed the dog from a hot car.

Ashley Ambre Torres is charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, a misdemeanor offense.

After the incident was reported on Saturday, deputies arrested Torres.

Animal control officers provided the puppy with water and are caring for the animal at the shelter.
