Keeping Barefoot Children Safe & Healthy

As children begin to get out of school, you'll see more and more kids playing in their yards.  While it's great to see them out and about, it's important to know how safe their little feet and overall health is.  Studies are out that say it is perfectly healthy to be outside barefoot and can actually benefit you, but only if there aren't harmful chemicals around.  The process is called "grounding".  It's just when you walk around without shoes.  Tracy says, the problem is,  you absorb any chemicals on grass into the bottom of your feet.  "The pores in the bottom of our feet and palms of our hands are some of the biggest in our body, so when you put chemicals on them, your body sucks it up into the blood stream and we don't want to have to do that anymore than we have to, so there are alternatives out there for natural lawn care, and I'd investigate those," says Tracy.  She says Borax, natural pesticides and natural fertilizers on the lawn are popular.  Some people even use all natural-rosemary oil to keep insects away.  "We used to use a spray out of garlic and jalapeno's and spray it on your plant sand bugs don't like it - it's spicy to us and them - lots of alternatives out there," explains Tracy.
