ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta fire officials say a spark from a welder's torch led to a fire at a metal recycling center west of downtown.
Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward says a welder was working on a refrigerator at a metal recycling center about two miles west of downtown Atlanta when a spark from a torch ignited nearby insulation Wednesday afternoon.
The fire sent plumes of thick black smoke billowing toward downtown and Ward says no injuries were reported. Fire officials remained on the scene Wednesday afternoon dousing hot spots with water.
