NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports the Detroit Pistons contacted the Houston Rockets to request permission to interview assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

In his second year with the Rockets, Bickerstaff came to Houston after spending four years as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he worked for Rockets head coach Kevin McHale when he was the Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations and their head coach over two different stints.

Prior to joining the Timberwolves John-Blair "J.B." Bickerstaff  spent three years as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats, where he worked for his father, Bernie Bickerstaff.

J.B. Bickerstaff becomes the second member of the Rockets staff to be targeted by another NBA team.

The Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Bobcats have requested permission from the Rockets to meet with Rockets lead assistant Kelvin Sampson.
