Rose honoring Coretta Scott King planted in Ala.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A rose honoring the late Coretta Scott King has been planted at Alabama's Capitol.

1 of King's children, Bernice King, attended the rose planting ceremony Saturday. Bernice King said her mother loved roses, but didn't have much time to tend them because she was busy continuing the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

The Kings lived in Montgomery in the 1950s when he was pastor of the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church and led the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports the Coretta Scott King rose is cream colored with touches of coral orange. It is a hybrid developed by Christian Bedard of Weeks Roses. The rose was planted last month at the King Center in Atlanta.
