ATLANTA -

A grieving widow is making a public plea for someone to come forward with information about her husband's killer.

Atlanta police say 57-year-old Ronald Clark was bludgeoned with a hammer and then shot and killed. Police believe the killer waited in the back of Clark's van while he cashed his check at a convenience store.

Marilyn Davis Clark struggled to hold back the tears as she talked about the love of her life, Ronald Clark.

"Ron was the air I breathed. He was my best friend. We talked on the phone two or three times a day for 15 years," said Marilyn Davis Clark.

Clark was found dead in his van on Marietta Boulevard from a gunshot wound to the stomach last Friday. He had also been beaten with his own hammer.

"We're looking at anything and everything in this, but it sounds a little bit suspect to us for it to be a complete random act," said Major Darryl Tolleson of the Atlanta Police Department.

Clark says her husband was attacked in a similar fashion by a robber with a knife, who also watched and waited for him.

"Someone was following my husband. They hid out in his Suburban. And he tussled with them and got the knife after they cut him all up," said Marilyn Davis Clark.

Detectives want to talk to a man in surveillance video. He was seen at the same convenience store shortly before Clark cashed his check.

Police say the person of interest got into an SUV they believe may be connected to the killing.

A MARTA bus video shows a similar vehicle pulling away from the victim's van after the murder.

"You didn't have to kill him. Why did you kill him? You didn't have to kill my husband," said Marilyn Davis Clark.

A memorial service for Ronald Clark will take place Saturday at 1:00pm at New Life Fellowship Global Ministries in Austell. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to his church.
