Man rushing to hospital dies in crash

Posted: Updated:

CROGHAN, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 57-year-old man who died in a crash over the weekend was rushing his wife to a northern New York hospital after she had a medical emergency.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets that Samuel Demo of Malone was driving his 54-year-old wife to Lewis County General Hospital late Saturday night when he lost control of his car in the town of Croghan, 70 miles northeast of Syracuse.

Deputies say Demo was thrown from the vehicle after it overturned several times before coming to a rest in a stand of trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife, Kathi Demo, was taken to the hospital in Lowville for treatment of minor injuries.
