Fort Bend home break-in caught on tape

Posted: Updated:

Surveillance video caught on several cameras at Pamela and Jose Contreras' home shows a calculated criminal taking his sweet time burglarizing their property early Friday morning.

"He acted like he just owned the place and went through everything," said Pamela.

She says she had no idea what was going on, that is until this gutsy criminal takes it a step further.

He breaks into a pick-up, an s-u-v and the family's new car and steals several items.

"I thought this car was locked so I don't know how he got in," she said.

But then he heads toward the front door. From one angle you can see him messing with the lock, he's about to step inside when the house alarm goes off. He makes a run for it.

"I was completely shocked when I saw somebody was actually breaking in the house especially in this area," she said. But now that someone has, she's hoping this surveillance video helps FOX 26 viewers identify the criminal.

"I think this man looks like he's done this plenty of times and he'll continue doing it unless he gets caught," she said.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's investigators were able to lift fingerprints from one of the cars.

A good sign, she says, because if this criminal thinks there will be next time at their home, her husband will once again be ready to defend their property.

"He could've shot this guy and it wouldn't have ended good for him or for us," Pamela said.

The family is once again stepping up security. They've already installed motion-sensor lighting outside the house.
