A Houston-area mom is outraged after learning this week the man who molested her daughter is about to be released.
The girl was 13 years old in 2009 when 24-year old Harold McArthur had sex with her in more than one location.
McArthur unwittingly confessed to the child's mother, after she noticed his text messages on the girl's phone.
"When I read the messages from him, I started pretending I was her and texting him. And he responded. And that's how I trapped him."
McArthur pled guilty to Indecency with a Child and was sentenced to six years in prison.
But on Tuesday, the teen's mother says she received a letter saying McArthur would be paroled after less than three years in TDCJ.
"It's extremely hard for me to keep existing," she told FOX 26 News. "And today was one of those days where I really wanted to give up. Really wanted to let go."
FOX 26 is withholding the identity of the mother to protect her child.
The woman says her daughter - now 17 - is in therapy and still dealing with the aftereffects of the sexual encounters, including trauma, guilt and shame.
"In my mind, it's one more child lost," she said.
