DETROIT (WJBK) -

A local father turned the tables on a suspected child predator.  This dad even got the man to confess on camera.

"He came with condoms in his pocket, and I have a video of him saying I came to have sex with your daughter," said Antoine Martin.

"You know how old Ariel is?" Martin can be heard asking the suspect on video.

SUSPECT: Yes, I know how old Ariel is.

MARTIN: How old is Ariel?

SUSPECT: She's 13.

MARTIN: And how old is you?

SUSPECT: I'm 22.

Martin believes he saved his daughter's innocence.  He set up a sting operation after he noticed inappropriate messages on his 13-year-old's Facebook page.

"Just like I suspected, he escalated it and went from just talking to her, being a 'big brother' type, to saying he wanted to be her secret boyfriend and that he wanted to have sexual relations with her, how sexy she was," Martin said.

The Martin family met the suspect at the Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan in Highland Park where his daughter spent time after school.

Posing as his daughter, Martin accepted the suspect's invitation for a personal visit, but he had something else in mind.

"Once he came and walked in the house, I grabbed him, grabbed him and held him for the police," Martin explained.

The 22-year-old suspect was ultimately arrested, and this father handed the cops a videotaped confession.

"Tell me why you came here today? Tell the truth," Martin said on the video.

SUSPECT: I came here because I thought Ariel wanted to be my girlfriend. So I came here to spend time with her.

MARTIN: And do what?

SUSPECT: And to have sex with her.

SUSPECT: I do not want this to go onto the Boys and Girls Club.  I do not want this to go public, man.  I'm sorry.  I swear to God I'm sorry."

"He's supposed to be there to help the kids," said Martin.  "He said he has a problem.  He had a thirst is what he said, and that he wanted to try to get help and this would be the last time."

So there are some questions here.  Was the father within his legal rights?  Is this entrapment, and could the defense say that the confession was coerced?

"Can the father do what he did?  The short answer is yes.  Now does the suspect have some rights?  Yes.  I would say the first thing would be entrapment.  There's a reason why police get involved and kind of do these sting operations.  Why?  They know what they're doing.  Does the father really know what he [is] doing?  Did he encourage this particular suspect to do what he did?" said Fox 2 legal analyst Charlie Langton.

"The confession, they're almost always challenged, even if the cops do it, the father does it, whatever.  I would imagine this one will be challenged, as well."

The suspect is still in police custody and has not been arraigned.  Martin said there were witnesses to the video confession, and it was not coerced.  He said he read the Michigan Penal Code for a citizen's arrest and followed everything by the book so the confession would stick.

A spokesman for the Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan said the suspect recently visited the Highland Park location, but has not been a volunteer for three years.

The Boys and Girls Club said they conduct thorough background checks of all volunteers and staff, and their main priority is the safety and well-being of the young people they serve.

No other victims have come forward.
