Woman dies in Columbia dorm room

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A woman was found dead inside a Columbia University dorm room on Sunday.

The NYPD responded to the Morningside Drive dorm at about 11:48 a.m.

They found Jessica Fingers, 21, of Monticello unconscious and unresponsive on the floor.

EMS responded but it was too late to save her life.

Fingers had been recruited to become a member of Columbia's Women's Varsity Track and Field Team, the Newburgh Times Herald-Record reported in 2008.

She earned a full scholarship to the university, according the Narrowsburg River Reporter but later left the school.

Fingers was reportedly visiting a friend at the dorm.  The Daily News reported that Fingers was believed to have overdosed.  An autopsy was planned to determine the exact cause of death.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.

Archeologists say they've solved a mystery that started with the rebuilding at ground zero. During the excavation at the World Trade Center Site, workers uncovered part of an old ship. No one knew where it came from. Now after years of study, researchers believe the sloop dates back to 1773, built from wood harvested from Pennsylvania, the same kind used to build Independence Hall.
