It only took a couple of hours with the help of new technology for Houston Police to track down a stolen truck.
Around 11:30 Thursday night a man called 911 to say his car was stolen at gunpoint from Tidwell and Jensen. When officers arrived the victim told police his iPhone was still inside.
Houston Police were able to put to use a new application they have for tracking iPhones and immediately picked up a signal.
Police tracked that signal to a field where the car jacking suspect apparently tossed the phone away. K-9 were brought in to track the suspects scent from the phone.
Police dogs lead investigators to a new by apartment building where they lost the scent.
The victim's truck was located nearby. HPD was still investigating if the bullet holes in the side of the truck were recent or were there before the truck was stolen.
