A botched burglary turned into a confrontation between a couple set to commit the crime and the homeowner who came up on them in her Buckhead driveway.
The homeowner, who asked not to be identified, said that she drove up to her house and saw an unfamiliar car in her driveway.
"The woman in the car motioned for me to back down my driveway," said the victim.
The female passenger apparently called her partner, who was upstairs in the home, to tell him to get out. The resident met the man as he came out from the back of her home.
"I asked who he was. I asked why he was at my house and he mentioned that he was at my house because my house was being sold, it was on the market and he was looking at my house, and I persisted and said, ‘Who are you? My house is not on the market.' He then started saying, ‘backup, backup,'" said the victim.
The would-be burglar grew frustrated at her questions and the fact that she wouldn't move her truck.
The victim told the man that she was calling police. She said that he then rushed towards her with a gun. She said she dropped her keys and ran to a neighbor's house.
The burglar moved the woman's BMW, allowing his partner to leave.
The woman's stolen BMW was recovered about 15 minutes after the incident. Police are still searching for suspects.
Police said that if you see someone strange in your driveway, back out and call 911. Do not confront burglars.
