NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Water company officials finished repairs on the two water mains that ruptured a day earlier in Hoboken and a third pipe that sprung a leak Friday morning but a new leak started on Saturday morning.

The Friday break occurred at Park Ave. between 13th and 14th streets just before 8 a.m. and was not nearly as large as two previous water main breaks on Thursday.

All Hoboken residents were advised to continue to boil their water for at least one minute.

The pipes burst within hours of each other below Willow Ave. in what officials say are unrelated incidents.

The breaks caused much of the city to lose water pressure on Thursday and prompted officials to issue the boil-water advisory.

Crews fixed the first break, which occurred at about 3 a.m. Thursday on Willow Avenue and 8th Street, and returned the 12-inch main to service, officials said.

The second break occurred at 14th Street and Willow Avenue after an excavation crew struck a 30-inch pipe at about 11 a.m., according to United Water officials. Within a few hours, crews isolated the break, resulting in improved water pressure in the city.

United Water Hoboken issued a boil water advisory:

"Hoboken residents should boil their water for at least one minute for the following: drinking, cooking, or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets, and all other consumption," United Water said in a statement. "Water does not have to be boiled for the following activities: showering, washing dishes or clothes."

The age of the pipe, approximately 75 years old, is believed to have lead to the first break, said United Water.

Water and raw sewage spread as far as Clinton Street earlier Thursday morning. Water was as deep as four feet in some spots.

Several buildings were flooded before the 12-inch pipe could be capped.

The rupture caused a sinkhole which trapped a car on Willow Avenue.

The owner of the Mazda told the FOX 5 show Good Day NY that a previous car he owned was damaged during superstorm Sandy.

"It was a Pontiac. It was on the same street. This block gets backed up. I found it a few blocks away," said Carlo Arellano.

Hoboken took a severe hit from the storm that included major flooding late last year.
