Volunteers help restore the home of elderly Hurricane Ike victim

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

A group of Facebook friends has come together and tackled a major project over the last two weeks.

Those people have repaired the badly damaged home of 83-year-old South Acres resident Maxine Golden.

The senior citizen's house was damage back in 2008 by Hurricane Ike.

There were holes inside and out of the property along with mold.

Dennis Glenn and attorney Dee McKinney rounded up donations and completed the project.

Golden, who has never heard of Facebook, says she's glad those in the community who use the form of social media came to her aid.
