Houston Police officer shot during routine traffic stop

A Houston Police officer is recovering after being shot in the arm just after midnight on Monday during a routine traffic stop.

It happened in North Houston at Saddle Rock and Sweetwater Lane.  The suspect who at first refused to stop for police, when he finally did he got out of the car and fired at both officers.

One officer was hit in the arm, the second officer shot and killed the suspect.

The officer is currently undergoing treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
