The University of Houston will host Texas at Hofheinz Pavilion in the College Basketball Invitational on Wednesday night.
Tip-off for the game is 8 p.m.
The Cougars (19-12) will be facing the Longhorns (16-17) for the 64th time.
Texas holds a 32-31 edge in the all-time series.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity and the invitation to the CBI," said James Dickey, UH coach, in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.
"I'm looking forward to playing and certainly having the challenge and opportunity to play against Texas."
UH is making its first postseason appearance since 2010 when they lost to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 89-77.
The Cougars played in the CBI in 2008 and 2009.
In 2008 UH went to the CBI semifinals before losing to Tulsa.
The Longhorns failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.
The two teams last played in 2000, with Texas winning 71-60.
"I have respect for Texas and Coach (Rick) Barnes," said Dickey. "He's been to the (NCAA) Tournament 14 straight years. They've been a very consistent team and he's done a great job over the years, having some terrific players there.
"Our players have great respect for the Longhorns and look forward to the challenge."
