Some dramatic and tense moments as an attempt to stop a burglary suspect in turned into a high speed police chase on the North Freeway.
The chase started just before 9 a.m. on Thursday after getting a call from a victim of a home robbery. The victim was able to report the plate number of the burglary suspect. That vehicle was spotted by Bellaire Police at New Castle near Bissonnett.
At one point the suspect got on the Pierce Elevated heading the wrong way. Houston Police were quickly brought in to help with the chase.
The chase ended in the 8400 block of the North Freeway when the suspect finally motioned police through his open window on his SUV that he was surrendering.
Police quickly surrounded his SUV as the suspect emerged with his hands in the air and then laid down on his front as police approached an handcuffed him.
The name of the suspect is not being released at this time, however, he is facing burglar and evading arrest charges.
