The Detroit Lions announced on their Twitter account that they have reached an agreement with free agent safety Glover Quin on a 5-year contract.
Quin, who began his career with the Texans as a cornerback and switched to safety, started every game for Houston during the past three years, and he started 12 of 15 games during his rookie season.
The Texans took Quin in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of New Mexico.
He leaves the Texans with five career interceptions, three recovered fumbles and one quarterback sack.
