Flags to half-staff for Conn. solder killed

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered flags to fly at half-staff across Connecticut to honor a soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Army Capt. Andrew Pedersen-Keel, whose family lives in Madison, was one of two soldiers killed in an attack at a police station in eastern Afghanistan.

Madison First Selectman Fillmore McPherson said Tuesday that Pedersen-Keel's parents were informed Monday of his death.

U.S. officials said have said two special forces soldiers were killed Monday when a policeman fired at people leaving a meeting at district police headquarters in Wardak province.

McPherson said Pedersen-Keel graduated from Avon Old Farms School in 2002 and the U.S. Military Academy in 2006.

The 28-year-old Pedersen-Keel was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, N. C.
